Born and developed in the midst of unfriendly glances and heavy prejudices of society. Tattoos still exist silently, quietly bloom, silently show off their colors like primrose flowers at night in the hearts of the community of tattoo lovers and true tattoo artists. Until now, the tattoo industry has developed more and more brilliantly, becoming a large array, creating a large number of products in the beauty industry. Just like in the overall field of painting, tattoo artists are becoming more and more vocal, recognized by the world for their talents, not just "tattoo artists" as in the past.
In the world
tattooing is a long-standing art, originating from the ancient tribes of many countries. In Vietnam, in the book Vietnamese anecdotes, Nguyen Khac Thuan wrote: one of the oldest customs of the Vietnamese people is tattooing, which lasted until the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century. Some people say that, because of this custom, the name of the first country of the Vietnamese was Van Lang. Amazing isn't it, people. Tattoo? Van Lang? … the beginning of this art in Vietnam is probably about the same age as our country…
Regarding the cause of this custom, the book Linh Nam Chic Quai (Hong Bang Thi Story) records: At that time, people in the mountains who went to the water to fish were often custom baseball uniforms injured by the stream, so together they told the king about it. . The king said, “The varieties in the mountains are different from those in the water. The species in the water only like what is similar to us and hate what is different from us, so we are harmed.” Then, the king ordered everyone to take the color of the water monster tattoo on their body. From then on, no more injuries caused by the flux. The custom of drawing oneself of Bach Viet people started since then.
In order to confirm the reason for tattooing of the ancient Vietnamese, the Dictionary of Vietnamese Rituals also records: Ancient Vietnamese from 2000-3000 years ago had the custom of tattooing water monsters (dragons, snakes ..) on their stomach, chest, etc. back, legs, arms…. Legend has it that in the past, people used to swim in rivers to find food, so they tattooed their bodies to avoid being harmed by sea monsters and mingle with animals in the water, from which they could hunt them.
Over the years
tattoos are no longer used to scare off water monsters. In the 20th century, perhaps the most popular tattoo was by the part of the people, the gangsters to show their dominance and strength. Part of it is also to distinguish the gangs. Over time, the concept that "people who like tattoos are sassy people, like to play, love to play, have gypsy blood in them, ..." gradually crept into the vast majority of Vietnamese people, creating The tattoo industry has a rather bad impression on those who have not yet been able to get used to and accept this culture, especially the elderly class of aunts and uncles.
From a personal point of view, perhaps there is nothing wrong with the love of tattoos of the brothers and sisters. Maybe, in the early stages of the industry, when tattooing was still a new art, it was the part of those "gypsy" brothers and sisters, who were strong, have personality, they dared to take the lead, dare to try new things, not afraid to show their personality, not afraid of people's judgment, so they dare to play, dare to accept pain to have tattoos that show their own qualities or mark milestones in life. In my opinion, we tattoo industry brothers should thank these first guests, the guests who laid the foundation for the entire tattoo industry we are today.
In the 21st century, tattooing is more and more accepted, prejudices about tattooing are fading away as more and more people love tattoos, and begin to consider it as a real art. It is baseball jersey impossible to separate tattooing from painting, tattooing has all the elements of painting but at a much higher difficulty. If other areas of painting are drawing on paper, wood, walls, ... or some other materials... then tattooing is drawing on the skin, a surface that is not flat, does not easily adhere to ink, even even moving with the breath, not fixed. Not only is it a matter of surface, drawing and tattooing tools also have a huge difference.
